Cancer and Your Mental Health: Dealing with Cancer Emotionally
Being diagnosed with cancer, in active treatment, or in a survivorship phase is challenging. Along with the physical elements of a cancer diagnosis and treatment, the mental health component is an invisible scar that many have for the rest of their lives.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and GRYT Health partnered with CancerCare to highlight the journey through the ups and downs of cancer and mental health challenges, coping skills, and resources.
GRYT Health always strives to create a safe space for tough conversations, especially for a program on sensitive topics, like mental health.
Speaker: Charlotte Ference, LMSW, is an oncology social worker working in the Online Support Group Program and the Children’s Program at CancerCare, providing counseling and case management to people coping with cancer and people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Charlotte holds a BA from Iona College and completed her MSW at Hunter College’s Silberman School of Social Work.
