“I’m thinking about Andoni Schultz, from Los Altos, California, who’s fought brain
cancer since he was three.” said President Obama in 2009. This is a quote I know
all too well. “He had to endure all sorts of treatments and surgeries, one of which
affected his memory, so it took him much longer, hundreds of extra hours to do
his school work. But he never fell behind. He’s headed to college this fall.” As
President Obama mentioned in his speech back in 2009, I was diagnosed with a
brain tumor at age three. I have had fifteen brain surgeries since then. As of
2016 my tumor no longer shows up on my scans due to a hemorrhage, a follow up
surgery and chemo. I feel better than ever and recently did my first triathlon.
GRYT is using humor to get through the tough parts of life.
GRYT is running after being on chemo, breaking a leg and having surgery on that
leg just so I can continue to run.
GRYT is having friends call me in the hospital and sing songs from church that are
uplifting and inspirational to help me through my day.
