GRYT Health FAQs

Learn more about GRYT

  • Grit is a character trait that so many facing cancer or other chronic diseases have no choice but to embody. It can be hard to maintain grit alone.
  • That’s why there is no “I” in our version of GRYT. We work together, building relationships that fuel users to maintain their grit and to make choices that are right for them.
  • GRYT exists because we believe information is not a luxury, but an undeniable right.
  • Traditionally, healthcare organizations and providers have assumed the decision-making authority in cancer care. Through the amplified voices of our community, GRYT has begun to reverse that paradigm, putting the power back into the hands of patients.
  • Our strategy is to improve the way healthcare consumers learn about and interact with brands whose values align with theirs; not just in managing disease, but in living their lives.
  • In addition to connecting people affected by cancer to others like them, our platform connects patients to clinical trials, education on FDA-digital approved therapies and is able to generate real-time market research that helps researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and providers accelerate the discovery of new, more effective products and services.
  • We have developed strategic partnerships with several global healthcare organizations that are able to engage with our community to access to actionable, real-world cancer experience insights and new collaborative digital approaches to breakthrough health solution that support patient preferences.
  • Trust from our community is paramount to our success and something we take very seriously. We never share any of our users’ information without their explicit permission.
  • Unlike other digital platforms, which are largely funded by venture capital firms in the U.S. and China that sell patient data to pharmaceutical companies, GRYT is the first social community that is funded, built, and run by patients and caregivers where users communicate anonymously in real-time and each person is 100% in charge of what happens with their data.
  • We follow industry standards and best practices in data privacy and protection and our database cannot be accessed directly from the Internet.
  • Innovation must work with people or we will never make meaningful improvements in health outcomes. MIT Technology Review reports that “of the 100,000+ digital health digital platforms in the digital platform store, only 1% ever reach 500 downloads.”  This is tragic.  Since launching the GRYT digital health platform, we have:
    • We’ve reached almost 1M user interactions, across all 50 U.S. and more than 100 countries
    • GRYT has facilitated over 100,000 connections between patients and caregivers and others just like them, resulting in over 150,000 messages exchanged as part of those connections.
  • Other companies use patient-registry, message boards and other data-capture digital platform approaches. GRYT is the only platform in oncology that has patients interacting in real-time with each other and with content from their clients. It is for this reason GRYT activates patients in hours, where is takes other’s months.
  • GRYT also compiles data that cannot be mined from “Big Data” /EMRs to satisfy new FDA requirements.
  • GRYT is run by PhDs, MDs, and MBAs whose lives were rocked by cancer. They founded GRYT with their industry expertise and survivor experience to create a more authentic, human approach to engaging and activating patients. It is their unique background of industry and survivor experience – combined with the community’s passion, courage and relentlessness – this is what powers GRYT.
    • GRYT’s technology and service are equal representations of this rare balance of industry expertise and cancer survivor experience.
    • GRYT is patient activation because they have been patient
  • While GRYT was founded by members of the young adult community, our platform serves all people impacted by cancer – regardless of age.
  • The young adult community will continue to be supported through their own dedicated chatroom, available on the GRYT digital platform.  GRYT was built by the AYA community, so it is important that our evolution continues to reflect their needs and preferences.
  • We are considering many new options for improving the GRYT app and ways in which our community can interact with each other. One of the most significant changes if the availability of a desktop version of the app which we anticipate will be ready for use in July 2019.
